There is something disarming about the scale of the detail: an 18k yellow gold Bird on a Rock, hand sculpted and polished before taking its place on the winding rotor of a chronograph. With the Tiffany Timer, Tiffany & Co. ties that distinctive motif to a significant milestone, celebrating 160 years since the House introduced its first chronograph in 1866.

The new Tiffany Timer Titanium Platinum is the second limited edition in the anniversary series. Following an earlier edition limited to 60 pieces, the new version is limited to 100 pieces and will be available from September 2026.

The timepiece brings together Tiffany & Co.’s jewelry and design heritage with its history in Swiss watchmaking, using a combination of satin-brushed titanium, platinum and a dark blue dial accented with Tiffany Blue^®.

The Tiffany Timer, Distilled Into One Detail

Tiffany says the new Tiffany Timer combines a satin-brushed Grade 5 titanium case with a platinum bezel. Its 40 mm case is shaped with rounded surfaces and sinuous lines, while the chronograph pushers curve with the profile of the case and serve as crown protectors.

The dial takes a similarly restrained approach. A sunray dark blue finish is accented with Tiffany Blue^® on the sub-dial markers, outer chronograph seconds track and date display. Twelve steel indexes and white-gold hour, minute and sub-dial hands complete the composition.

The result is a watch where Tiffany’s signature colour is present without overwhelming the mechanical character of the chronograph. The dark blue and Tiffany Blue^® combination also subtly recalls the House’s Tiffany Blue Books through the years.

160 Years of Tiffany & Co. Watchmaking, Counted in 100 Pieces

The anniversary has its roots in 1866, when Tiffany & Co. introduced what became known as the Tiffany & Co. Timing Watch, now recognized as the House’s first stopwatch.

Two years later, in 1868, the timepiece was renamed the Tiffany & Co. Timer, coinciding with the opening of Tiffany & Co.’s watch assembly workshop in Switzerland. By 1874, the House had inaugurated a watchmaking manufacture in Geneva, producing complicated timepieces including chronographs and calendar watches.

The new edition continues that history in a distinctly contemporary form. Limited to 100 pieces, it pairs Tiffany’s design vocabulary with a movement rooted in the history of Swiss chronograph making.

Why the Bird on a Rock Still Matters

One of the most distinctive details appears beneath the sapphire crystal caseback. The winding rotor features a recreation of the bird motif from Jean Schlumberger’s iconic Bird on a Rock brooch.

Measuring approximately 1.4 centimeters in width, the bird is sculpted by hand from a solid piece of 18k yellow gold. It is then polished by hand using traditional tools, including diamond abrasives and sticks of gentian wood, creating different degrees of shine that emphasize the contours of the miniature sculpture.

Faithful to Schlumberger’s original design, the bird ultimately takes its perch on the watch’s oscillating weight. The caseback itself is engraved “Limited edition of 100.”

A Chronograph Built on Swiss Watchmaking History

At the heart of the Tiffany Timer is an exclusive customized El Primero 400 integrated column-wheel chronograph movement. The movement connects the Tiffany timepiece to one of the most celebrated chapters in modern Swiss watchmaking.

Introduced by Zenith in January 1969, the El Primero—meaning “the first”—was the world’s first integrated automatic chronograph, according to Tiffany & Co.’s announcement.

The Tiffany Timer retains the El Primero caliber’s characteristic three-register layout. Chronograph seconds are indicated around the dial periphery, while the three o’clock sub-dial displays chronograph minutes, the six o’clock register shows chronograph hours and the nine o’clock sub-dial records running seconds.

A date display is positioned at six o’clock. The movement offers a 50-hour power reserve, while the watch is rated for 10 ATM water resistance.

Sixteen decades after Tiffany’s first chronograph, the Tiffany Timer Titanium Platinum presents that history through a modern combination of titanium, platinum, Tiffany Blue^® detailing and Swiss mechanical watchmaking.

Limited to 100 pieces worldwide, the Tiffany Timer Titanium Platinum will be available from September 2026, offering a contemporary interpretation of the House’s longstanding relationship with precision timekeeping.
